Licence and privacy

The guides, notes, photos and drawings on HomeLab Guides are under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). You may copy them, share them, translate them and build on them, commercially too, as long as you give credit:

  • name the site as HomeLab Guides (blog.jacq.cc),
  • link to the page you used, and
  • say if you changed anything.

For example: Based on “Add a USB SSD to a Raspberry Pi 5 running Home Assistant OS”, HomeLab Guides (blog.jacq.cc), CC BY 4.0.

Two exceptions:

  • Code. The scripts and config files you can download from a guide are under the MIT licence, in a LICENSE file next to them. Use them anywhere; keep the copyright notice.
  • Other people’s photos. Some photos come from Wikimedia Commons or from FCC filings. Each one keeps its own licence, named in the caption under it.

The full CC BY 4.0 licence text is the one that counts.

  • Nothing to track you with. No cookies, no accounts, no comments or forms, and no analytics or advertising scripts.
  • Search stays in your browser. The search box uses Pagefind, which downloads a small index of the site, so what you type never leaves your browser.
  • Cloudflare delivers the pages. It keeps copies of them so a busy day doesn’t swamp a home internet connection. Like any network that carries a request, it sees your IP address. It counts visits as totals (pages, countries, browser types), and those totals are all I look at. How Cloudflare handles that data: its privacy policy.
  • The home server behind it sees only Cloudflare’s addresses, not yours.
